The purpose of this study is to examine the Ottoman Turkish perceptions of Bayburt University students. The method of the research is survey study. The study's universe consists of the students of Faculty of Education, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Primary School Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge Department of Bayburt University. No sampling was performed for the survey and the entire study universe was tried to be reached. Thus, 478 students, who constitute the research universe, were involved in the research. The data collection tool of the research was a questionnaire consisting of 4 questions on the demographic information of the students and 12 questions on measuring the Ottoman Turkish perceptions of the students. Descriptive statistics, t test and variance analysis were used for the analysis of the data. As the result of the research, it was determined that the students were hesitant about the provision of "Ottoman Turkish is not Arabic but a Turkish language." The students expressed correct views only on the relationality between speaking the Ottoman Turkish and Arabic and Persian languages, and they stated their opinions as "I don't agree". In other words, the relationship between speaking Arabic and Persian languages and speaking Ottoman Turkish was not observed by the students. It was found that the previous knowledge of the students, their taking the Ottoman Turkish classes and the departments that they attend were the variables that affect their Ottoman Turkish perceptions. It was determined that the perceptions of the students, who were informed about Ottoman Turkish beforehand, and who took Ottoman Turkish classes, were positively different in a significant level. In addition, another important result obtained in the research was that the Ottoman Turkish perceptions of the students of Primary School Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge, Turkish Education, and History Department were statistically different in positive direction, when compared to all of the other departmentsen_US
