Postmodernizm ve eğitim

Abstract

Son yıllarda modernizmin eleştirisiyle adını sıkça duyduğumuz bir söylem dikkatleri üzerine çekmektedir: postmodernizm. Sanayi sonrası toplumların var oluş sürecinin doğurduğu bu kavram, eleştirisi ve vadettikleriyle hayli iddialı bir perspektif çizmektedir. Özgürlük, eşitlik ve adalet kavramlarına yeni bir bakış kazandıran postmodern tavır, sanattan sosyolojiye dek yankılarını çok çeşitli alanlarda hissedebileceğimiz yeniliklerle yüklü şekilde hayatımıza girmiştir. Postmodernizmin şüphesiz eğitim üzerine de etkisi olmuştur. Buna göre öğrenciyi bir birey olarak merkeze alıp öğretmenin rehber olarak öne çıktığı yeni bir ortam tasavvur edilmiştir. Öğrencinin kendi öğrenmelerini kendinin yapılandırması, okullarınsa seçime dayalı alternatif konular sunması ortaya atılan en önemli yenilikler olarak dikkat çekmektedir. Postmodern yaklaşımın eğitim sürecine dâhil edilmesiyle eğitimli insanın algısı da değişmiştir. Temel alanlarda sağlanan öğrenmelerin eğitimli birey için artık yeterli olarak görülmediği yeni bir yaklaşımın kapılarının aralandığı bu süreçte eğitimli birey, kitle iletişim araçlarının etkili şekilde kullanımına vakıf niteliklere sahip olmalıdır. Bu bağlamda bireyin yeteneklerine göre en iddialı olduğu alanlarda eğitim yapılması gerekliliği öğretim yöntemlerinde de ciddi bir sorgulamayı gerekli kılmıştır. Çalışmamızda bu gereklilikler çerçevesinde postmodernizm kavramı ve onun eğitimle ilişkisi irdelenmiştir.

In recent years, a statement whose name we hear frequently with the criticism of modernism has attracted attention on itself: postmodernism. This statement which was brought about with the reborn process of the societies after industrialization draws a challenging perspective with its criticism and the things it promises. The postmodern attitude creating a new perspective to the terms of freedom, equality and justice has come into our lives intensively with the innovations and we can see its reflections in various fields; from art to sociology. Postmodernism has, beyond any doubt, effects on education. A new education environment in which the student is in the center of education as an individual and the teacher is a guide has been thought. The students constructing his own learning, presenting alternative subject based on the students choice by schools are considered to be the most important innovations. With the integration of postmodernism approach into education, the perception of literate people has changed. In this process which creates a new approach and with which it is seen that the trainings on the basic skills are not enough for the literate individual, the individual should have the skills to use mass media effectively. In this sense, the necessity to train individual according to his predominant skills makes it essential to question the teaching approaches. This study analyses the term of postmodernism and it relationship with education within the scope of these necessities.
