Öğe Pollen morphology of Eremogone (Caryophyllaceae) in Türkiye(Magnolia Press, 2024) Tokusoglu, Kader varlik; Armagan, Metin; Bulbul, Ali savasThe palynological characters of 17 taxa belonging to genus Eremogone Fenzl (Caryophyllaceae) from T & uuml;rkiye were examined using light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Eremogone pollen in T & uuml;rkiye is found to have an average size of 31.31 mu m (26.62-36.65 mu m), pore sizes ranging from 6.52 to 9.24 mu m, inter-pore distances ranging from 9.07 to 12.57 mu m, pore numbers varying from 5 to 14 and 5-30 nanoechini distributed in an area of 10 x 10 mu m. The ornamentation was identified as nanoperforate, nanoechinate, or nanofaveolate surface elements in various combinations. Clustering analysis and Principal Component Analyses do not show clear groups, although more similar taxa were brought together through the analysis of pollen micromorphological data rather, the nanoechinate base width, nanoechinate length, and pore diameter length are the most valuable variables for separating the examined taxa.Öğe Pollen morphology of some Veronica species (Plantaginaceae) from Turkey(Magnolia Press, 2022) Varlik, Kader; Armagan, Metin; Bulbul, Ali SavasThe aim of the present work is to provide an account on the morphological features of pollen of Veronica species in Turkey, as a contribution to future research. Pollen morphology of 20 species of the Veronica were investigated using Light Microscope (LM) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Different palyno-morphological features including; pollen ornamentation, colpus ornamentation, size of polar and equatorial diameter, P/E ratio, exine thickness, and size of colpus were observed. The study revealed that the pollen grains of the studied Veronica species were in all cases tricolpate, radially symmetrical and isopolar, oblate-spheroidal or prolate spheroidal. The surface pattern of the exine varied from striato-reticulate and striatomicroreticulate to microechinate-perforate, which allows recognition of three homonymous types of pollen grains.Öğe Seed morphology of some Eremogone species (Caryophyllaceae) from Türkiye(Magnolia Press, 2025) Tokusoglu, Kader Varlik; Armagan, Metin; Bulbul, Ali SavasThe present research deals with the taxonoy of the genus Eremogone, using morphology of seed; the species occurring in T & uuml;rkiye are examined. Nineteen characters (qualitative and quantitative) were observed or measured using light microscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy; statistical analyses considered are PCA and Clustering. The average length of Eremogone seeds was 1756 mu m (1168-2569 mu m), and the average width was 1148 mu m (866-1674 mu m). Seed shape, based on the seed length-to-width ratio, ranged from spherical to prolate spheroidal. Seed colors varied from yellowish-brown to dark brown-black. The seed coat surface was covered with tubercles, and the dorsal surface of the seed was covered with papillae ranging from 27 to 146 in length. The identified potential characters contribute to the delimitation of the Turkish species of Ermogone; a diangostic key is proposed.
