Öğe Examination of Landscape Character Analysis of Children's Playgrounds Located on the Transportation Axis in Rize Urban Scale: The Example of Fener District(Bayburt University, 2022) Bekci, Banu; Üçok, Merve; Oğuztürk, Gülcay ErcanAbstract Children's playgrounds located in urban open green areas are among the most preferred recreational areas. These areas have the effect of increasing the quality of life of the users. However, due to the increasing housing need today, it is seen that the green areas in the cities are decreasing and even green areas are not included enough in the zoning plans. For this reason, urban spaces have started to be used frequently for the green area and recreational activity needs of children. Although not suitable for recreational needs, children's playground designs are made that do not comply with standards, even in case of insufficient scale. The use and adequacy of children's playgrounds located on the transportation axis in the city and created in urban spaces is the main purpose of the study, and appropriate design proposals have been developed by using observation and survey methods. 3 different children's playgrounds in terms of quality and quantity, located on the transportation axes of Fener District, where the housing density is high in Rize, are discussed in the study. As a result of the study, it has been determined that traditional children's playground equipment is included in the selected children's playgrounds, urban spaces are used in the selection of the place, there is no age group discrimination in the designs of the children's playgrounds and there is no diversity in the play activities to be done. In addition, the inadequacy of the planting design in the children's playgrounds and the neglect of the structural areas have negatively affected the image of the city. In the second stage of the study, the safety needs of children and parents were discussed. In line with these studies, suggestions were presented considering scientific, ecological, technical (accessibility, usability, etc.) criteria as well as children's playground design criteria in order to make designs that encourage physical and mental development.
