Öğe Freezing-Thawing and Wetting-Drying Behavior of Clayey Soil Stabilized with Lime and Silica Fume(2019) Yılmaz, Mehmet Fatih; Demir, ErsinSoil stabilization is defined as improving the physical, chemical, hydraulic and mechanical properties of soilsthat are insufficient in terms of engineering properties. In this study, stabilization of high plasticity clayey soilwith silica fume and lime was investigated to examine strength and durability behavior of stabilized soil. Thetest samples were prepared by adding 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% of silica fume, without lime and with 6% limeto the natural soil which is a high plasticity clay (CH) according to the Unified Soil Classification System. Thecuring time is 7 and 28 days. At the end of these curing periods, unconfined compressive strength tests wereperformed. After 28 days of curing, 12 wetting-drying and freezing-thawing cycles were completed anddurability behavior of the samples were examined. In the light of the obtained data, it was determined that SLSsamples containing silica fume and lime had higher strength values than SL samples containing only lime. Silicafume increase the strength values after curing periods and has positive effects on the soil durability in terms offreezing-thawing test.Öğe Strength and Durability Performance of Clayey Soil Stabilized with Lime and Marble Powder(2021) Yılmaz, Fatih; Demir, ErsinThis paper investigated the effect of freezing-thawing and wetting-drying cycles on the strength and durability of clay soil stabilized with lime and marble powder. The test samples were prepared by adding 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% of marble powder, without and with 6% lime to the soil which is a high plasticity clay (CH) according to the Unified Soil Classification System. Unconfined compressive strength tests were performed after 7 and 28 days of curing periods. The durability behavior of the samples was examined by applying freezing-thawing and wettingdrying cycles to the prepared samples. The results of this study show that the presence of marble powder in the soil mixture has an important role in the improvement of strength. An increase in the number of wetting-drying cycles does not decrease the volumetric stability of the samples stabilized with marble powder. The use of lime and marble powder together increased the strength values compared to the natural soil and the use of lime only. It was concluded that the co-use of lime and marble powder had a positive effect on the strength and durability behavior of high plasticity clayey soil.Öğe Yüksek plastisiteli kil stabilizasyonunda silis dumanı ve mermer atıklarının kireçle beraber kullanılabilirliğinin araştırılması(Bayburt Üniversitesi, 2019) Demir, Ersin; Yılmaz, FatihZemin stabilizasyonu, mühendislik özellikleri bakımından yetersiz olan zeminlerin fiziksel, kimyasal, hidrolik ve mekanik özelliklerinin iyileştirilmesi olarak tanımlanır. Bu çalışma kapsamında ferrosilisyum alaşımlarının ve silisyum metalinin üretiminde bir yan ürün olarak elde edilen endüstriyel atık olan silis dumanı ile mermer tozu killi bir zeminin stabilizasyonunda puzolonik katkı olarak kullanılmıştır. CaO oranı yüksek olan kireç birincil bağlayıcı olarak seçilmiştir. Birleştirilmiş Zemin Sınıflandırma Sistemi'ne göre yüksek plastisiteli killi bir zeminin stabilizasyonunda kullanılan mermer tozu ve silis dumanı %0, %5, %10, %15, %20 doğal malzeme ile kireçsiz ve %6 kireçli (optimum kireç oranı) olarak karıştırılmıştır. Hazırlanan karışımların durabilite ve dayanım gibi geoteknik özellikleri detaylı olarak incelenmiştir. İncelenen numunelerin dayanım değerlerinde silis dumanının kireçle beraber kullanıldığında doğal zemine, mermer tozuna ve sadece kireçli karışımlara göre daha yüksek çıktığı gözlemlenirken, durabilite özelliklerinde ise mermer tozunun daha etkin olduğu söylenilebilir.
