Öğe Development of The Reading Attitude and Habits Scale: Reliability and Validity Study(Bayburt University, 2020) Gül, Büşra; Demir, SezginReading is a complex process involving physical and mental processes. In order to develop reading habits in individuals, it is necessary to develop a positive attitude towards reading. Therefore, it is important for individuals to meet books at an early age. After the positive attitude towards the book has developed, the habit of reading will develop over time. The aim of this study is to develop the Reading Attitude and Habits Scale (RAHS) to measure students' reading attitudes and habits. Exploratory factor analysis has been performed on 628, test-retest procedure on 119, equivalent form application on 189 and confirmatory factor analysis on 445 secondary school students. As a result of exploratory factor analysis, the two-factor structure of the 19-item Reading Attitude and Habits Scale was confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis (x² = 401.62, sd = 266, RMSEA = .061, NFI = .94, NNFI = .96, GFI = .91, AGFI = .89, CFI = .96). The internal consistency coefficient of Cronbach's Alpha, Spearman Brown and Guttman Split-Half values was over 70%. Cronbach's Alpha was .89, Spearman Brown was .89 and Guttman Split-Half was .82. Therefore, it is possible to say that RAHS is a reliable and valid scale.
