    Football Fan Structures As Non-Governmental Organizations in Turkey

    The aim of this study is to evaluate football fan groups in Turkey in terms of their characteristics as civil society organizations and to reveal their current situation. The research seeks to analyze football fandom, which influences large audiences in Turkey, and the fan organizations that have emerged in this context, from a civil society perspective. It also focuses on the social power of football in Turkey and the fan formations that have developed accordingly. It has been observed that football fans in Turkey are undergoing a new phase of national reorganization but have not yet succeeded in forming a strong union around a common goal. The All Football Fans Federation, established on 01.04.2012, continues its efforts to ensure nationwide representation. This study was conducted using a qualitative research method. Data obtained through face-to-face interviews with experts were evaluated by the researcher. The interviews were recorded using a voice recorder, key points were noted, and the data were analyzed using the expert interview analysis method. The findings may serve as a guide for public authorities to better understand fan culture, anticipate possible reactions, and gain insight into fan expectations. Furthermore, one of the main objectives of the study is to help fan groups acquire modern observation and reactive behavior skills, similar to examples seen in Europe. Experts believe that uniting fan groups under a single umbrella organization would contribute to representation and decision-making processes.
