Öğe BIOCHEMICAL AND BIOACTIVE CONTENT IN FRUITS OF WALNUT (JUGLANS REGIA L.) GENOTYPES FROM TURKEY(Parlar Scientific Publications (P S P), 2021) Erdogan, Ummugulsum; Argin, Sanem; Turan, Metin; Cakmakci, Ramazan; Olgun, MuratWalnuts (Juglans regia L.) are a good source of dietary minerals and contain significant amounts of potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and iron. In Turkey, walnut orchards are found in the coruh Valley and are generally composed of local varieties. Since chemical and physical properties of walnuts are very important in determining their quality, in this study, nut and kernel characteristics, fatty acid composition and phenolic composition were determined for 26 walnut genotypes collected from the valley. Total fat content was found to be between 53.75% and 71.43%, while the crude protein amount ranged from 10.21% to 20.71%. Total carbohydrates were calculated between 14.31-27.52% and ash content was found to be between 1.64% and 3.32%. The oleic acid content and linoleic acid content ranged from 18.34 to 25.58% and 37.09% to 87.51%, respectively. The linolenic acid content was determined between 5.52% and 11.03%. Our study showed that, differences in phenolic component, crude protein and fatty acid content of walnuts were caused by different growing conditions. Genotypes have a rich and stable structure in terms of fruit quality parameters, minerals, organic acids, phenolic composition, antioxidant and fatty acids amounts and amino acids. In other words, these characteristics did not show much variation in genotypes grown in the Valley. However, there was a great variation in hormone levels among genotypes. In terms of the parameters examined, GN2, GNI, ((NIS, GN24, GN25 and GN26 genotypes were determined as rich and stable genotypes.Öğe DIFFERENT LAND USE INFLUENCES ON AMINO ACID, ORGANIC ACID, HORMONE AND MINERAL NUTRIENT CONTENTS OF DRY BEANS(Parlar Scientific Publications (P S P), 2018) Erdogan, Ummugulsum; Kitir, Nurgul; Gunes, Adem; Tuan, Metin; Tasci, Sinem; Yildirim, Ertan; Karaman, Mehmet RustuDry bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is a widely grown and important food legume which is a major source of mineral nutrition. The present study digs in determining differences in nutrients, organic-amino acid and hormone concentrations of Ispir bean genotypes under different land use conditions. The study sites (32 locations) were identified according to the stratified sampling method in the Ispir district, Erzurum, Turkey, under consideration of bean-cultivated lands and the number of villages. The seed weights were higher for genotype no. 4 (137.5 g) than for genotype no. 14 (131.5 g) and following by all other genotypes. Moreover, values for crude protein content were significantly higher for genotype no. 14 (263.1 g/kg) in comparison to genotype no. 4 (256.9 g/kg) and other genotypes. Therefore, it is concluded that land use impacts seed weight, nutrient, crude protein, amino acid, organic acid and hormone contents of Ispir dry bean. Land use can result economic improvements in crop yields and yield components. Dry bean seed weights were impacted by other crop yield components such as amino acid, organic acid and hormone contents of dry bean.Öğe Different land use influences on amino acid, organic acid, hormone and mineral nutrient contents of dry beans(Parlar Scientific Publications, 2018) Erdogan, Ummugulsum; Kitir, Nurgul; Adem, Gunes; Tuan, Metin; Tasci, Sinem; Yildirim, Ertan; Karaman, Mehmet RustuDry bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is a widely grown and important food legume which is a major source of mineral nutrition. The three promoters were Fulvagra (R), based on fulvic acid, Liqhumus (R), based on humic acid, and Microsense Root (R), also based on humic acid. Treatment with Fulvagra (R) resulted in a remarkable 69.90% increase in average fruit weight and a 39.52% increase in yield in strawberry plants. These improvements remained significant when combined with plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), resulting in a 61.81% increase in fruit weight and a 45.21% increase in yield. Liqhumus (R) treatment resulted in a significant 49.95% increase in fruit weight and a 39.30% increase in fruit yield. The introduction of PGPR further enhanced these effects by increasing fruit weight by 87.70% and yield by 63.84%. The Microsense Root (R) treatment showed 31.07 and 61.87% improvements for the respective parameters. In conjunction with this treatment, the use of PGPR produced the most significant results, with increases of 121.14 and 65.37% for respective parameters. These results indicate that the combined use of non-microbial commercial organic fertilizers with PGPR leads to higher efficiency and is promising for sustainable agricultural practices, particularly in improving the resistance of strawberry plants to salt-induced stress.Öğe Synthesis of alternan-stabilized zinc nanoparticles: morphological, thermal, antioxidant and antimicrobial characterization(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2021) Yucel, Nur; Ispirli, Humeyra; Mercan, Emin; Erdogan, Ummugulsum; Dertli, EnesThis study aimed to synthesize zinc nanoparticles with antimicrobial and antioxidant activities using alternan (ZnNPs-Alt) produced byLactobacillus reuteriE81 as the stabilizing agent. For the characterization of the ZnNPs-Alt, UV-vis spectroscopy, SEM, TEM and EDX analysis, XRD, FTIR and DSC analysis were applied. The functional role of ZnNPs-Alt was tested by determination of their antioxidant activities by DPPH and CUPRAC methodologies and their antibacterial and antifungal activities. Results of this study demonstrated that alternan was utilized as a successful stabilizer to produce crystalline, thermally stabile ZnNPs-Alt with a particle size of similar to 100 nm. Importantly, strong antioxidant and antimicrobial activities were observed for ZnNPs-Alt in a concentration dependent manner. These findings confirmed the role of alternan as a stabilizing agent for the production of ZnNPs-Alt with functional roles.
