Within this scope, the seeds were subjected to priming with 150 ppm GA(3) for 6 h at room temperature. Then, 150 mM NaCl was added in a group and the control was not primed with GA(3). The results dearly revealed that salt stress caused a slight induction of biomass yield of radicle and hypocotyl, photosynthetic pigments in cotyledon, reactive oxygen species content in all organs. Moreover, GA(3) pretreatment alleviated salt-induced oxidative damage by maintaining superoxide dismutase, ascorbate peroxidase and glutathione reductase enzyme activities in soybean plants. This study firstly elucidates the effects of GA(3) priming on the comparative response mechanisms to salinity with different organs of soybean plants.Öğe THE COOPERATION BETWEEN METHYL JASMONATE AND SALICYLIC ACID TO PROTECT SOYBEAN (GLYCINE MAX L.) FROM SALINITY(Parlar Scientific Publications (P S P), 2018) Seckin-Dinler, Burcu; Tasci, Eda; Sarisoy, Ufkun; Gul, VolkanMethyl jasmonate (MeJA), a methyl ester of jasmonic acid, is a naturally produced phytohormone that regulates plant growth and development by maintaining the morphologic, physiological, and biochemical development of plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of methyl jasmonate and endogenous salicylic acid on the stimulation and scavenging of reactive oxygen species (ROS) under salt stress in soybean roots and leaves. Soybean leaves were sprayed with 0.5 mu M methyl jasmonate for 4 days, followed by exposure to 200 mM NaCl. Foliar application of MeJA did not change the leaf area; however, it increased the relative water content (RWC), chlorophyll content, relative electrolyte leakage (REL), and root and shoot fresh weight, and it lessened the stress-induced oxidative damage by decreasing the levels of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), malondialdehyde (MDA). Curiously, catalase (CAT) enzyme and isoenzyme activity, and also endogenous salicylic acid (SA) were decreased by MeJA treatment. As a result, this study firstly determined that MeJA treatment improved the soybean performance under salinity by acting role as an antioxidant and cooperating with SA.Öğe DETERMINATION OF YIELD AND QUALITY PARAMETERS OF OIL SUNFLOWER GENOTYPES GROWN IN TURKEY(Soc Field Crop Sci, 2020) Gul, Volkan; Coban, FurkanSunflower (Helianthus annuus L) has gained importance in the world as a significant oilseed for vegetable oil. The reactions of the same sunflower genotypes to varying ecologies are different, and yield and yield characteristics may vary depending on this. In this study, we were interested in understanding the differential sensitivity of specific sunflower genotypes to different agro-ecological environments in Turkey. A 2-year (2015-2016) study was conducted on a clay-loam soil in a low and high altitude environment to (i) evaluate the genotype x location x year interaction (GxLxY) for sunflower genotypes, (ii) predict yield components performance and identify high stable sunflower genotypes, and (iii) make genotype-specific management and high performing genotype recommendations within and across agro-ecological regions. The highest yield of seed and oil yield was obtained from the Coral (G(1)) genotypes, averaging 3558.5 and 1535.6 kg ha(-1), respectively in Erzurum and from the 64LC108 (G(4)) genotypes averaging 2905.7 and 1267.4 kg ha(-1), respectively in Samsun ecological conditions. As a result, the determination of the sunflower genotypes suitable for the region will provide the opportunity to obtain high-yield and high quality products because the soil, environment and climatic factors of the region in which they are grown are very useful in determining seed yield and oil content.Öğe THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT DOSES OF LIQUID VERMICOMPOST APPLICATION ON YIELD AND YIELD COMPONENTS OF SOME POTATO (SOLANUM TUBEROSUM L.) VARIETIES(Pakistan Botanical Soc, 2024) Gul, Volkan; Gidik, BetulThis is one of the early studies to produce healthy, yielding, and high -quality tubers from the potatoes grown in Bayburt, an organic agriculture basin, using liquid vermicompost that can supplement organic fertilizers. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of liquid vermicompost applications (0, 3, 6, 9, and 12 L ha(-1)), which can supplement the stable manure used as bottom fertilizer, on yield and yield components of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) varieties (Agria and Lady Olympia). The research was designed in random blocks with three replications. As a result of the study, it was found that the tuber yield was within the range of 20.24-30.40 tons' ha(-1), the protein ratio was within the range of 1.53-2.51%, and the starch ratio was within the range of 11.98%-15.99%. The liquid vermicompost doses applied to the potato varieties created significant differences in all three parameters. Due to the positive effect of the Agria (3.40 tons/da) variety on the yield and vegetative development of potatoes, It was concluded that 9 L liquid vermicompost application per decare would be beneficial.Öğe THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT MICROBIAL FERTILIZER DOSES ON YIELD AND YIELD COMPONENTS IN CORIANDER (Coriandrum sativum L.)(Univ Life Sciences Lublin, 2021) Gul, Volkan; Ozturk, ErdoganMicrobial fertilizers containing Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus megaterium isolates are one of the important or-ganic fertilizers, which strengthen the immune system of plants against harmful effects and promote the plant growth by fixing nitrogen from the atmosphere, to obtain better quality products. This study was conducted to determine the effects of different liquid microbial fertilizer doses (0, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, and 2500 ml 100 L-1) on the yield and yield components of the coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) grown in Bayburt in 2018 and 2019. The experiment was set up as three replicates in randomized complete block design. The results indicated that there was a considerable variation in the yield and yield components of coriander, and the yield significantly increased as the dose of microbial fertilizer was increased. The maximum essential oil content and seed yield were recorded for the plots grown under the F-1 and F-3 treatment. It was found that the maximum seed yield was obtained in the F-3 treatment (839.0 kg ha(-1)), and the seed yield decreased in the F-4 (754.1 kg ha(-1)) and F-5 (759.9 kg ha(-1)) treatments. Although the increase in the microbial fertilizer dose increases seed yield, using the fertilizer in optimum dose can be more profitable. Therefore, this study suggests that the fertilizer dose F-3 can improve the productivity of the coriander grown in the areas treated with microbial fertilizer.Öğe Effect of Liquid and Solid Vermicompost Applications on Growth and Yield of Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.)(Adem Yavuz Sonmez, 2021) Gul, Volkan; Coban, Furkan; Ozturk, ErdoganVermicompost, which is not harmfull to the environment, and is increasing in agricultural production in terms of both gaining to the soil and benefiting the waste. This research was carried out in 2019 in Bayburt ecological conditions in order to determine the impacts of different doses of solid (250, 500 and 750 kg da(-1)) and liquid (0, 250, 500 and 750 ml da(-1)) vermicompost fertilizers on the flowering and maturation period (days), stem diameter (cm), table diameter (cm), plant height (cm), thousand weight (g) seed yield (kg da(-1)), seed internal rate (%) oil ratio (%) and oil yield (kg da(-1)) of sunflower (Helianthus annuus). In the experiment, it was determined that all parameters were statistically significant compared to p<0.01. The highest seed (218.7 kg da(-1)) and oil yield (75.9 kg da(-1)), which are the most important parameters in oil sunflower, were obtained in 750 kg da(-1) solid and 750 ml da(-1) Liquid vermicompost application (K3S3). As a result, the use of solid and liquid vermicompost application in oil sunflower together will be beneficial in obtaining the highest healthy, high quality seed and oil yield.Öğe Effects of titanium dioxide nanoparticles against salt and heat stress in safflower cultivars(Soc Botanica Brasil, 2024) Dinler, Burcu Seckin; Cetinkaya, Hatice; Koc, Fatma Nur; Gul, Volkan; Sefaoglu, FiratThis study aimed to determine the effects of titanium dioxide nanoparticle (TiO2NP) pretreatment on seeds of different safflower cultivars (Balci, Dincer) under salt and heat stresses. The apparent effects on stress markers (malondialdehyde (MDA), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and superoxide radical (O2 center dot-) content), as well as changes in germination and physiological parameters (radicle and plumula weight and length measurements), were investigated. TiO2NP pretreatment caused an increase in radicle length and plumula fresh weight for the Balci cultivar under salinity. Furthermore, plumula dry weight was alleviated with TiO2NP pretreatment for both cultivars. TiO2NP pretreatment improved plumula dry and fresh weights for both cultivars under heat stress. In addition, MDA content decreased for both cultivars under heat stress but only for Balci under salt stress. The amount of O2 center dot- radicals positively affected only the radicle for both cultivars under heat stress. This study is the first to document the alleviation of salt stress damage for the Balci safflower cultivar, and protection for both Balci and Dincer cultivars under heat stress, using 200 ppm TiO2NP pretreatment.Öğe EFFECTS OF VERMICOMPOST FERTILIZER ON THE YIELD AND OIL QUALITY IN SUNFLOWER (Helianthus annuus L.) VARIETIES(Parlar Scientific Publications (P S P), 2021) Gul, Volkan; Gidik, Betul; Girgel, UmitThis study was carried out in 2018 on an experimental field of Bayburt University in order to demonstrate the effect of different doses of vermicompost on the yield and oil quality in oilseed sunflower varieties. The experiments were carried out in randomized full-block design with three replicates. In the experiments, it was found that administering 100 kg da(-1) of vermicompost to the sunflowers yielded the best results in terms of grain yield (130.81 kg da(-1)), fat ratio (48.21%). and fatty acids parameters (saturated fatty acid ratio 15.30%. unsaturated fatty acid ratio 84.71%). In conclusion, we are of the opinion that, although there is an insufficient number of studies on oil crops. with the help of similar future studies in which vermicompost and other organic fertilizers are compounded, a humanand environment-friendly organic production can be realized by increasing the yield as well as the quality.Öğe EVALUATION OF YIELD AND QUALITY CHARACTERISTICS OF OIL SUNFLOWER (Helianthus annuus L.)
