Notes on Some Words Recorded as Oghuz in Divânu Lugâti't-Turk
(Selcuk Univ, Inst Turkish Studies, 2025) Guzel, Ferdi
D & icirc;v & acirc;nu Lug & acirc;ti't-T & uuml;rk (DLT) is the very first work that provides information about Turkish dialects. The information given in the work concerning the dialects of that era and their distinctive features hold immeasurable value for the field of Turkish language studies. Besides the Hakaniye dialect, which was the literary language at that time, DLT comprises various information about several Turkish dialects. More than half of the records concerning dialects other than Hakaniye are about Oghuz dialect. Kasgarli often compared the Karakhanid written language with the Oghuz dialect. It isquite understandable to find more information about the Oghuz Turks' dialect than other dialects in DLT because the Seljuk State that managed to become the most powerful state in the Turkish-Islamic geography from the second half of the 11th century onward was the state of the Oghuzs. The vocabulary of the Oghuz dialect presented by Kasgarli in the DLT overlaps substantially with the modern Oghuz dialects. This research focuses on the words a & eng;, etrek, keri & scedil;, k & ouml;n & ccedil;ek, s & ouml;r & ccedil;ek, and yor & imath;g & ccedil;& imath;, all of which are recorded in DLT as Oghuz. Studies on DLT and discussions concerning relevant words in etymological studies has been reviewed, and based on the available evidence from historical and contemporary dialects, Turkey Turkish subdialects being in the first place, new insights are offered about these words

ON THE UNCOMPLIED WORDS IN DERLEME SOZLUGU
(Selcuk Univ, Inst Turkish Studies, 2020) Guzel, Ferdi
Derleme Sozlugu is the most comprehensive and the most important work in the field of Turkey Turkish dialects vocabulary. But when it comes to lexicography principles, there are some mistakes in this important study. It is among the important mistakes that some words without real local dialect data are included. In the Derleme Sozlugu, there are two kinds of words that are not actual dialect data, words taken from written sources and derived words. Some compilers sent the words they obtained from written sources and the words they derived from them as compiled words. Since it could not be determined by those who prepared the Derleme Sozlugu, a number of words entered into the Derleme Sozlugu that did not have local dialect data. Some studies have mentioned that there are some words taken from the written sources in the Derleme Sozlugu. The derived / fabricated words will be discussed for the first time in this study. It is a must to reorganize the Derleme Sozlugu which is the most important work in the field of dialect research. The Derleme Sozlugu which is reorganized and enriched with new compiled materials will be a better dictionary in terms of both reliability and usability.
