Öğe The Role of Egypt in Modern Arabic Literature and Prominent Poetry Trends(Bayburt Üniversitesi, 2025) Matpan, EbubekirArabic literature, with its deep historical roots, has undergone numerous phases throughout history. At times, it experienced periods of stagnation, while at others, it flourished. Despite these fluctuations, literature has always maintained its significance, serving as a medium that appeals to emotions within society and shaping itself according to time, place, customs, and traditions. After a prolonged period of stagnation, Arabic literature entered a new phase following Napoleon's invasion of Egypt, which initiated interactions with Europe. This study briefly examines the phases Arabic literature has undergone and highlights the prominent centers of each period. Subsequently, it discusses the dual occupation of Egypt by two Western powers, emphasizing how these occupations, despite their negative aspects, contributed to the revival of literature. During this new era, Egypt emerged as a leading force in the literary field, successfully blending classical Arabic literature with Western influences to become a pioneer in the modern era. Furthermore, the emergence of various schools of thought, inherent in the nature of literature, crowned this new period and marked the beginning of a fresh chapter for Arabic literature.
