Öğe Adipokine, gut and thyroid hormone responses to probiotic application in chukar partridges (Alectoris chukar) exposed to heat stress(Akademiai Kiado Zrt, 2021) Bayraktar, Bulent; Tekce, Emre; Kaya, Hacer; Gurbuz, Ahmet Burak; Dirican, Ebubekir; Korkmaz, Serol; Atalay, BanuThe aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Lactobacillus reuteri E81 (LRE) probiotic supplementation on heat stress responses in chukar partridges (Alectoris chukar). The birds were divided into two groups, one of which was exposed to heat stress (HS). Within each group, four subgroups, each including 64 birds, were created for the three treatment doses (200, 400 or 600 mg/kg) of LRE and the control. The experiment was started with day-old birds, kept at a temperature of 25 degrees C or 37 degrees C. After a 7-day adjustment period, the LRE supplementation lasted for 35 days. The levels of different adipokines, including visfatin (VF), adiponectin (ADP), chemerin (CHEM), as well as the concentration of plasma citrulline (CIT) and the levels of thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) in the blood were measured at 21 and 42 days of age. A significant correlation (P < 0.01) was found between LRE supplementation and the decrease in serum VF, ADP, CIT, T3 and T4 levels in partridges exposed to HS. On the other hand, no significant relationship was found between LRE supplementation and the serum CHEM and TSH levels (P > 0.05). We concluded that the addition of 600 mg/kg LRE is beneficial in preventing intestinal damage and inflammation provoked by HS.Öğe Anadolu Merinoslarında İrisin Hormon Yanıtı Üzerine Bazı Fizyolojik Parametrelerin Etkisi(2021) Bayraktar, Bülent; Tekce, EmreBu çalışmanın amacı, Anadolu Merinosu koyunlarında irisin hormon yanıtı üzerinde vücut kondüsyon skoru (VKS), laktasyon, gebelik, yaş ve cinsiyetin etkisinin incelenmesidir. Çalışmaya dahil edilen tüm gruplarda yer alan Anadolu Merinosu koyunları vücut kondüsyon skorlarına (VKS<2,VKS=3-3.5,VKS?4) göre 3 gruba ayrılmıştır. 1.grup gebeliğin ilk dönemindeki koyunlar (ilk gebeliğin 100. gününde) (n=30), 2.grup erken laktasyon döneminde bulunan koyunlar (n = 30),3.grup farklı yaşta bulunan <2 (genç) (n=30), 2-8 (ergin) (n=30), 8> (yaşlı) (n=30), erkek ve dişi koyunlar (n=180) olmak üzere toplam 240 hayvan oluşturdu. Koyunlardan sabah yemlemesi öncesi vena jugularis’ten kan örnekleri alındı. Kan serumu örneklerinde ELİSA yöntemiyle irisin hormon düzeyleri belirlendi. Çalışma sonucunda laktasyon ve gebelik döneminde ortalama serum irisin hormon düzeyleri en düşük VKS<2 grubunda, en yüksek ise VKS ?4 gruplarında bulunan koyunlarda saptanmıştır. Aynı şekilde farklı yaş ve cinsiyet gruplarında ise en düşük ortalama serum irisin hormon düzeyleri VKS<2 grubunda bulunan genç kuzu ve toklularda iken, en yüksek düzey ise VKS ?4 grubunda yaşlı koyun ve koçlarda tespit edilmiştir. VKS değişimine bağlı olarak farklı yaş, cinsiyet, gebelik ve laktasyon dönemlerinin serum irisin hormonu düzeyi üzerine etkisi olduğu belirlenmiştir (p<0,05).Sonuçlarımız, irisin hormonun miyokin olması ve fizyolojik rolü nedeniyle, kas sistemine ait durumun incelenmesinde yararlı bir parametre olabileceğini göstermiştir.Öğe Deneysel Olarak Sıcaklık Stresi Oluşturulan Broilerde Farklı Oranlarda Kullanılan Bazı Bitkisel Ekstrelerin Serum Demir Seviyesine Etkisinin İncelenmesi(2018) Bayraktar, Bülent; Tekce, EmreAmaç: Demir, yaşam için kritik bir öneme sahip dokulara oksijen taşıyan hemoglobinin yapısındabulunmaktadır. Hemoglobin, demirin bağlanması ve transportunda görevli bir protein olup;eskiliği, bağışıklık sisteminde baskılanma ve enfeksiyonlara karşı direncin azalmasına, ayrıca beyinve motor fonksiyonların bozulmasına yol açarak önemli bir morbidite nedeni olabilmektedir. Gereçve Yöntemler: Vücuttaki demir seviyesinin, demir içeriğine sahip yiyeceklerin tüketilmesine, bazıhormon ve ilaçların kullanılmasına ve strese bağlı olarak etkilendiğini gösteren çalışmalara rastlanılmıştır.Diğer yandan, sıçanlarda deneysel olarak uygulanan psikolojik ve ısı stresi çalışmalarındaseviyenin azalma gösterdiği bildirilmektedir. Bu çalışmada; sahip strese en duyarlı hayvan olan tavuklarda22°C ve 36°C sıcaklık stresinde antioksidan etkilere sahip uçucu yağ karışımı (EOM)'nıniçme suyuna ilave edilmesiyle serum demir seviyesindeki değişimin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.Araştırmada hayvan materyali olarak bir günlük yaşta 400 Ross-308 erkek etlik civciv kullanılmıştır.Her grupta 50 hayvan olacak şekilde sekiz farklı grup, kendi içerisinde her bölmede 10 adet olacakşekilde yedinci günden 42. güne kadar 22°C stressiz ve 36°C stresli gruplara [Kontrol, EOM(uçucu yağ karışımı)] 250, EOM-500, EOM-750 uygulanacak şekilde beş alt gruba ayrılarak araştırma42 gün sürmüştür. Bulgular: Deney gruplarındaki serum demir düzeyleri sırasıyla 22°C’de88,2, 82,2, 103,4, 98,4 µg/dL iken, 36°C stres uygulanan broiler gruplarında sırasıyla 88, 78,2, 84,8,85 g/L bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Çalışma sonucunda, içme suyuna ilave edilen esansiyel yağ asidi karışımından(EOM) serum demir düzeyinin etkilenmediği (p>0,05) saptanmıştır.Öğe Eugenol alleviates the negative effects of experimental periodontitis and regulates adipokine hormones in rats(Elsevier, 2024) Gul, Sema Nur Sevinc; Eminoglu, Didem Ozkal; Tekce, Emre; Bayraktar, Bulent; Guven, Leyla; Dilsiz, Alparslan; Yildrim, SerkanA chronic microbial infection that is mediated by the host's immune system is the cause of periodontal disease. As the world's population grows, phytotherapy is a therapeutic strategy that makes use of a renewable resource that can provide less costly medicines. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of eugenol administration on periodontitis by examining the effects of eugenol at different doses biochemically, histopathologically, and radiologically in rats with experimental periodontitis. Thirty-two Sprague Dawley male rats were divided into four groups: 1. the healthy control group (CG), 2. The experimental periodontitis group (PG), 3. The experimental periodontitis+10 mg/kg eugenol group (EG10), and 4. the experimental periodontitis+20 mg/kg eugenol group (EG20). Alveolar bone loss was measured using micro-CT imaging. The TNF-alpha, IL-6, leptin, asprosin, and apelin levels were analyzed in the serum samples of rats. Histological and immunohistochemical analyses were performed. The data were analyzed statistically. The serum TNF-alpha, IL-6, leptin, asprosin, and apelin levels were found to be statistically significantly lower in the eugenol-applied groups (EG10 and EG20) than in the PG (p < 0.05). There was a statistically significant difference in the TNFa, IL-6, leptin, asprosin, and apelin levels between the EG10 and EG20 (p < 0.05). In the measurements made using micro-CT imaging, alveolar bone loss was found to be at the lowest FR1 level, and in histopathological analysis, the least inflammation was observed in the EG20. It was concluded that the application of 20 mg/kg eugenol in rats with experimental periodontitis was a safe dose, was beneficial in alleviating bone loss, and had a positive effect on the healing process. All rights are reserved, including those for text and data mining, AI training, and similar technologies.Öğe Fatty acid compositions and quality of egg and performance in laying quails fed diet with hesperidin(Springer, 2021) Ozbilgin, Abdullah; Kara, Kanber; Gumus, Recep; Tekce, EmreThis study investigates the effects of hesperidin on eggs' internal and external quality parameters, the fatty acid in egg yolk, and the nutrient content adding different amounts of hesperidin to the quail diets. A total of 150 Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) were divided into three groups (0% hesperidin group (n = 5 x 10) (control group; HES0), 0.1% hesperidin group (HES1), and 0.2% hesperidin group (HES2)) with five replicates. It has been found in the analysis that hesperidin did not affect the weight and thickness of the shell from the external quality parameters of the egg (P > 0.05), but in terms of the HES1 and HES2 groups, the weight of the egg increased compared to the HES0 group, while the fracture resistance of the shell decreased (P < 0.05). Eggs' internal quality parameters have shown that the egg white width (P < 0.05) and the yolk diameter (P < 0.01) increased in the HES1 and HES2 groups, and the length of white decreased (P < 0.05). It has been found that n-6 (linoleic acid) and n-3 (docosahexaenoic acid) fatty acid values increased significantly according to hesperidin dosage (P < 0.05) from the parameters of the composition of fatty acids of the eggs. As a result, it is believed that hesperidin added to the diet has a generally positive effect on the fatty acid composition and internal and external quality parameters of the eggs and would be appropriate to use it as a feed additive.Öğe Investigating the adipokine and cardiac troponin response ın experimental thyroid dysfunction(University of Zagreb, Facultty of Veterinary Medicine, 2020) Bayraktar, Bülent; Tekce, Emre; Takma, Çiğdem; Bayraktar, Sevil; Kilinç, Ayten A.; Ülker, Ufuk; Kurtdede, EfeThis study was conducted to investigate adipokine [Apelin and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF)] and cardiac troponin (cTnI) response that emerged after adding an essential oil mixture (EOM) (Eucalytus glabutus labii, Thymus vulgaris, Cymbopogon nardus, and Syzygium aromaticum) at different rates to the drinking water of broilers in which thyroid dysfunction (hypo-and hyperthyroidism) had been experimentally induced. In the present study, 150 1-day-old Ross-308 male broiler chicks were used. They were divided into five groups, each with 30 animals. The groups were designed to include five subgroups: control (C), hypothyroid, hypothyroid + 250 ppm EOM, hyperthyroid, and hyperthyroid + 250 ppm EOM, with six animals in each group. At the end of the experiment, Apelin, p-BDNF, cTnI, T3, T4, and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels were investigated in blood serum samples obtained by cervical dislocation from four randomly selected animals from each subgroup, making 100 animals in total. It was found that EOM administration resulted in a dose-dependent increase in p-BDNF and apelin levels, and a decrease in T4 levels in the experimentally induced hypo-and hyper-thyroidism groups, but did not affect T3 and cTnI levels. Conversely, an increase in TSH level was observed in the hypothyroidism groups, whereas a decrease was observed in groups with hyperthyroidism. All rights reserved.Öğe Investigation of endocrine response of thyroid and intestinal and adipose tissues due to the addition of Moringa oleifera essential oil in diet for quails exposed to heat stress(Revista Brasileira Zootecnia Brazilian Journal Animal Sci, 2023) Bayraktar, Bulent; Tekce, Emre; Bayraktar, Sevil; Boyuk, Gulbahar; Takma, Cigdem; Aksakal, Vecihi; Genc, Murat-In this study, we aimed to determine the effect of Moringa oleifera essential oil (MOEO) supplementation to rations of Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) grown under heat stress (HS) on some adipokine (visfatin, adiponectin, and chemerin), intestinal (citrulline), 3,5,3 '-triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4), and thyroid-stimulation hormone (TSH) levels in the serum. For this purpose, 320 day-old male quail chicks were used. The study was conducted over 42 days, including a 7-d adaptation period and a 35-d experimental period. Eight trial groups were established, each including 10 quail: CT (control temperature, 25 celcius), MOEO 200, MOEO 400, MOEO 600, HSC (HS control), SMOEO 200, SMOEO 400, and SMOEO 600. Based on the results, a dose-dependent decrease was observed on days 21 and 42 in serum adiponectin and T3 in the stress and stress-free groups compared with the control group due to MOEO supplementation. The lowest decrease was observed in the MOEO 600 mg/kg dose group. In addition, an increase in stressed groups was observed when examining serum citrulline levels, while chemerin levels did not have a statistically significant effect. While the decrease in serum visfatin, T4, and TSH levels on the 21st day did not have a statistically significant effect, a significant effect was determined on the 42nd day. The addition of MOEO at 600 mg/kg to the ration may be beneficial in preventing intestinal damage and inflammation that may occur due to HS.Öğe Investigation of the relationship of asprosin and cardiac troponin response with some physiological and biochemical parameters in Anatolian native horse(Hippiatrika Verlag Mbh, 2021) Bayraktar, Bulent; Tekce, EmreAsprosin is a recently discovered glucogenic hormone released from starvation-induced white adipose tissue and amongst others it protects against hyperinsulinism associated with metabolic syndrome. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of age, gender and season on metabolic (asprosin) and cardiovascular (cardiac troponin, I (cTnI), CK, CK-MB) function markers and their relationship with some biochemical parameters in Anatolian native horse breed. This study was carried out between February-August 2020. A total of 40 horses was used for this purpose, including 20 mares and 20 stallions in the age range of 1-6, 7-12. Serum asprosin level, for the winter season in stallions and mares aged 1-6 and 7-12 years respectively 8.9, 8.36; 14.08, 13.58 ng/ml were as determined. In addition, for the summer season respectively 17.98, 18.68; 22.22, 21.32 ng/ml were detected and no difference between the groups (P>0.05). On the other hand, serum cTnI levels for the winter season in stallions and mares aged 1-6 and 7-12 years respectively 0.014, 0.018; 0.016, 0.02 ng/ml were as determined. In addition, for the summer season respectively 0.012, 0.016; 0.014, 0.018 ng/ml were detected. It was shown that the serum biochemical parameters and levels of cTnI levels in the domestic horse breed the horses belonging to the Anatolian varied depending on age, gender, and season (p < 0.05) but the effect of hormone levels serum asprosin wasn't found statistically significant (p>0.05).Our results showed that cTnI could be a useful parameter in the examination of the cardiovascular system status of horses.Öğe Relationship of progranulin response with some physio-biochemical parameters in Akkaraman sheep(Univ Agriculture, Fac Veterinary Science, 2023) Bayraktar, Buelent; Tekce, Emre; Genc, Murat; Kaya, Hacer; Ozcan, Gulbahar Boyuk; Aydemir, Seyma; Kotan, Goksad CemilProgranulin (PGRN) is a multifunctional protein that is critical in the retention of embryos in the endometrium of the uterus and the protection of cervical tissue during fetal growth. In case of PGRN release and dysfunction, cervical tissue may remodel (regeneration) and lead to the risk of abortion. Serum PGRN level in sheep and its variation according to different physiological periods and its relationship with some biochemical parameters are unknown. In this study, the relationship between early lactation, early and late pregnancy serum PGRN levels and some biochemical parameters in Akkaraman sheep was investigated for the first time. In the literature search, no similar studies were found on the relationship between early lactation, early and late pregnancy serum PGRN levels and some biochemical parameters in Akkaraman sheep. The research was carried out on 90 Akkaraman sheep reared in the same herd under the same care and feeding conditions. In the study, Akkaraman ewe were divided into 3 groups as early lactation, early pregnancy and late pregnancy. 1st group is early lactation period ewe (first 60 days of lactation), (n = 30), 2nd group is in the first period of pregnancy (on the 0-90th day of the first pregnancy (n = 30)), 3rd group is in the late pregnancy of pregnancy (100-150 days of pregnancy (n = 30)) was created. Blood samples from vena jugularis were taken before morning feeding from the animals that formed the study groups. PGRN levels in serum were determined by ELISA method. In addition, glucose, calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), phosphorus (P), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL), high density lipoprotein (HDL), very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) levels were analyzed in biochemistry autoanalyzer. As a result of the study, lactation and early pregnancy and late pregnancy mean serum PGRN levels were determined as 1.93, 1.78, 1.33 ng mL-1, respectively. The serum PGRN, glucose, Ca, Mg, P, TC, TG, LDL, HDL and VLDL levels of sheep with late pregnancy, early lactation and early pregnancy periods, which constitute the study groups, were found to be statistically significant (P<0.05). Our results have shown that due to the physiological role of PRGN in keeping the embryo in the endometrium of the uterine and in preserving the cervical tissue during fetal growth, there may be a useful parameter in the pursuit of the pregnancy process.Öğe Response of Probiotics and Yeast Added in Different Doses to Rations of Anatolian Merino Lambs on Fattening Performance, Meat Quality, Duodenum and Rumen Histology(Kafkas Univ, Veteriner Fakultesi Dergisi, 2021) Tekce, Emre; Bayraktar, Bulent; Aksakal, Vecihi; Dertli, Enes; Kamiloglu, Aybike; Karaalp, Musa; Timurkaan, SemaThis study investigated the effects of dietary probiotics (Lactobacillus reuteri E81 [LRE], Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG [LRG]), yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae S81 [SCSI), and their combined supplementation on fattening performance (BW, DWG, Fl, and FCR), meat quality, and rumen and duodenum histology in lambs. The study material comprised ninety 2.5-month-old Anatolian Merino lambs, and the trial was conducted for 70 days. Nine trial groups, each composed of 10 animals, were established. This study demonstrated that, when compared to the control group, the best fattening performance was achieved in the lambs that received 600 ppm of dietary LRE. Neither visceral organ weights nor rumen and duodenum histology was affected in the groups that received the tested feed supplements. Of the meat colour parameters investigated, the L* value was observed to have increased in the groups that were given feed supplements, excluding Groups LRE-600 and SCS-300. It was determined that the probiotic supplements had no effect on the a* and b* colour parameters, but affected the meat pH value. In conclusion, the assessment of the effects of different doses of dietary probiotics, yeast, and probiotic-yeast combinations on performance parameters, visceral organ weights, and meat quality in Anatolian Merino lambs showed that the best results were achieved in the group that received 600 ppm of LRE alone.Öğe Sıcaklık Stresi ile İndüklenen Broilerde Farklı Oranlarda Uygulanan Bitkisel Eksraktların Bazı Kan Parametrelerine Etkisinin İncelenmesi(2019) Bayraktar, Bülent; Tekce, EmreSıcaklık stresi, immunosupressif etkisi nedeniyle kanatlılarda büyüme ve gelişme geriliği, metabolik problemlerden ölüme kadar varabilen sağlık sorunlarına yol açan önemli bir stres etmenidir. Bu çalışma, sıcaklık stresine maruzkalan kanatlılarda bitkisel ekstrakt kullanımına bağlı olarak serumda P düzeylerinin karşılaştırılmasının yanı sıra eşzamanlı olacak şekilde içme sularına ilave edilen stresin etkisini azaltılmasında antioksidan özelliklere sahip Eucalyptusglabutus labii (ökaliptus),Tymus vulgaris (kekik),Cymbopogon nardus (sitronella) ve Syzgium aromaticum (karanfil)bitkilerinden oluşan uçucu yağ karışımının (EOM) bazı kan parametreleri (Fosfor (P), Lipaz, Sodyum (Na), Klor (Cl),Doymamış demir bağlama kapasitesi (UBİC), Total Demir Bağlama Kapasitesi (TIBC), Transferin Doygunluğu (%SAT) düzeyi üzerine olan etkisi araştırılmıştır. Araştırmada her birinde 50 adet hayvan olacak şekilde 8 gruba ayrılmıştır. Gruplar kendi içerisinde her bölmede 10 adet hayvan olacak şekilde 5 alt grubu içermektedir. UIBC ve TIBCdüzeyleri kontrol grubuna kıyasla 22°C gruplarda 500 ml/1000 l gruplarda en fazla artış gözlenirken, 36°C gruplarda ise500 ml/1000 l gruplarda en fazla azalma tespit edilmiştir (p<0,05).Deney sonucunda gruplara ait veriler incelendiğindesıcaklık stresine maruz kalan broylerin içme suyuna ilave edilen EOM’un serumda P, Lipaz, Na, % SAT düzeyleri üzerinde önemli bir etkisinin olmadığı tespit edilmiştir (p>0,05).Öğe Trakya At Irkında Serum Visfatin Seviyesi Üzerine Yaş, Cinsiyet, Mevsim Etkisinin İncelenmesi(2019) Bayraktar, Bülent; Tekce, EmreBu çalışmanın amacı, Trakya atında mevsim, cinsiyet ve yaş etmenlerinin visfatin hormon düzeyine etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.Çalışma materyalini farklı mevsim, cinsiyet ve yaşta bulunan 20 at oluşturdu. Çalışma grubunu oluşturan 1-6; 7-20 yaş aralığındaki dişi veerkek atlarda ortalama serum visfatin hormon düzeyleri kış mevsimi için sırasıyla 23.38, 21.40; 26.46, 23.96 ng/ml iken, yaz mevsimindeise 17.98, 18.68; 22.22, 21.32 ng/ml olarak tespit edilmiştir.Sonuç olarak mevsim, yaş, cinsiyet parametrelerine ait serum visfatin hormonudeğerleri karşılaştırıldığında istatiksel anlamlı fark tespit edilmiştir (p<0.5). Elde edilen sonuçlarla birlikte mevcut çalışma ilk olma özelliğinitaşımaktadır.
