Öğe Educational Attainments of Civil Engineering Students from Their İnternships(ICOCEE, 8-10 Mayıs 2017) Boz, Ediz; Tekin, DuyguCivil engineers, who are members of one of the ancient and basic engineering branches, today have a very significant place in the development of the society as they have been in the past. Civil engineers have been taking theoretical and practical training during their 4-year undergraduate studies before becoming a member of the profession. Professional internships, which form a large part of the practice, constitute a significant part of the education and training process. Compulsory professional training is carried out for the students to be able to see the practical of the theoretical information they have received. In this way, it is aimed to see the practical usage and application areas of the knowledge acquired by students. Students have to prepare an internship report and pass the oral examination for the acceptance of their internship in the Department of Civil Engineering at Karadeniz Technical University. In this study, evaluation of the degree of knowledge acquired by students of Department of Civil Engineering at Karadeniz Technical University during the internship period is evaluated. In this evaluation, oral examination data, which was done by 28 instructors in October 2015, about internship report of 268 students were used. Following the oral examination conducted for each student, a questionnaire was applied to the instructors who conduct the oral examination to evaluate the student's performance in internship report. The results are presented in tables and graphs. It seems that the importance of the internship is not understood sufficiently by the students.Öğe İnşaat Mühendisliği Öğrencilerinin Yetişkin Eğitimi Kavramına İlişkin Metaforik Algıları(Eurasian Journal of Teacher Education, 30 Aralık 2020) Boz, EdizYetişkin eğitimi, meslek hayatında ve diğer konularda kendilerini sürekli geliştirmek isteyen bireylerin üzerinde durması gereken önemli bir konudur. Araştırma sonucunda inşaat mühendisliği öğrencilerinin “Zorlu uğraş” ve “Öğreticiye göre değişkenlik gösteren” kategorilerinde yoğunlaştığı tespit edilmiştir.Öğe Internship Regulations in Civil Engineering Education: Bayburt University Civil Engineering Department Example(ICADET, 21-23 Eylül 2017) Tekin, Duygu; Boz, EdizCompulsory professional internships are extremely important in terms of the assimilation of theoretical knowledge in the engineering education process. Universities had set up their own internship regulations for their internships to be done with more attentive or a specific standard. These regulations bring about specific criteria on how to do internships. A poor quality professional internship can lead to the development of a civil engineer who cannot utterly meet the present and future needs of the society. Therefore the internships constitute of implementation phase of the education and training period need to do more attentive. The aim of this study is to compare and discuss the internship regulations of the major universities of civil engineering education and the internship regulations of Bayburt University Department of Civil Engineering. Thus, it is aimed to examine Bayburt University's differences in the practice of internship-based learning method. As a result, suggestions for increasing the quality of internship application are presented.Öğe New Approaches in Civil Engineering Education(23.10.2022) Boz, Ediz; Bahadır,Ümit; Toğan, VedatThe spread of the digital transformation, which started with Industry 3.0, along with the developing technology, has affected the construction and education sectors as well as different professions and industry groups. It is seen that the use of technologies such as building information modeling (BIM), cyber-physical systems (CPS), laser scanners, virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence has increased with Construction 4.0, especially in the design and construction management stages. It is inevitable that students, who are in these technological and digital transformations, need different methods in terms of perceiving information compared to other generations. While traditional methods are effective for the Y generation and the old, traditional methods lose their effect in the Z and future generations. This situation necessitated a change in education methods and revealed the concept of Education 4.0. In this study, new methods used in civil engineering education, especially in the last 10 years, were investigated. The results obtained from the use of the methods found as a result of the research in civil engineering education, and the advantages and disadvantages of these methods were examined.Öğe Prioritising and selecting the railway routes planned in the Eastern Black Sea Region with the AHP and TOPSIS methods(Pamukkale Univ, 2023) Boz, Ediz; Turk, Ersin; Togan, VedatThe construction of the railway, which is needed for the development of the Eastern Black Sea Region, is an issue that has been discussed and unresolved for about 110 years. The geomorphological structure of the region and the developments in the highway played a role in the delay of the railway construction. However, the developing technology in the railway, Turkey's being a part of the Iron Silk Road Project, and the agreements made with international connections have brought the railway construction to the region again. In the Environmental Plan (EP) approved and in force by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, four railway routes are planned to integrate the Eastern Black Sea region with the national/international railway network. These routes are; Samsun-Sarp, Trabzon-Erzincan, Of -Erzurum and Tirebolu-Bayburt. However, some of these routes are alternatives to each other and are not feasible and rational since the implementation of all planned routes requires great costs. The aim of this study is to develop a method for prioritizing and selecting the railway routes planned in the EP. Within the scope of this purpose, by using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and TOPSIS techniques, which are multi-criteria decision making methods, the routes were listed according to 4 criteria and 10 sub-criteria determined with the help of literature and expert team. As a result of the study; In both techniques, the order was the same and it was determined that the Samsun-Sarp railway was the most priority railway route. Trabzon-Erzincan came second, Of-Erzurum came third and Tirebolu-Bayburt came fourth.
