Öğe The effect of PowerPoint presentations prepared and presented by prospective teachers on biology achievement and attitudes toward biology(2010) Gürbüz H.; Kişo?lu M.; Erkol M.; Alaş A.; Kahraman S.The study aims to explore the effect of preparing and presenting powerpoint slides on prospective teachers' biology achievement and attitudes toward biology. The sample of the study was 109 freshman students from Pre-School Education Department at Atatürk University in Turkey. The sample was randomly assigned as control group consisted of 53 students and experimental group consisted of 56 students. The experimental group was taught by powerpoint presentations preparing and presenting by prospective teachers while the lesson was conducted through traditional approach in the control group. Results indicated that preparing and presenting powerpoint slides had a significant effect on prospective teachers biology achievement and attitudes towards biology. © 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.Öğe Investigation of university students' attitude toward the use of powerpoint according to some variables(2011) Kahraman S.; Çevik C.; Kodan H.In this study it is aimed to investigate whether university students' attitudes toward the use of PowerPoint as a supporting teaching tool in the lectures change according to variables such as gender, academic units attended. For this purpose, the sample consisted of total 653 students who enrolled, Faculty of Education (N=287), Faculty of Engineering (N=125), School of Economics and Administrative Sciences (N=92) and Vocational School (N=149) in Bayburt University. Data was collected using "attitude toward the use of PowerPoint" scale. Additionally, students' opinions of the use of PowerPoint as a supporting teaching tool was collected from their responses to a questions form developed by researchers, then written documents analyzed to reveal their opinions with respect to the use of PowerPoint. The data obtained was statistically analyzed (ANOVA). It was found that there is no any statistically meaningful difference in the participants' attitude toward the use of PowerPoint in respect to gender, but there was significant difference in the participants' attitude toward the use of PowerPoint according to academic units attended. Recently, the findings were discussed in terms of the use of PowerPoint as a supporting tool in the lectures and its importance. © 2010 Published by Elsevier Ltd.Öğe Primary school teachers of instructional technologies self-efficacy levels(2011) Yalcin S.A.; Kahraman S.; Yilmaz Z.A.In this research, the level of primary school teachers self efficacy believes towards instructional technologies is investigated. The research is performed by applying questionnaires to 43 primary school teachers in Erzincan. The questionnaire consists of 28 questions. For the analysis of the research results SPSS program is used, mean and standard deviation for the answers of all lecturers in the research are calculated. Result of this study is concluded that primary school teachers have high self efficacy believe towards instructional technologies. And teachers believe that they have an understanding of how technology can be integrated into regular classroom instructional practices. © 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd.Öğe The use of the internet by pre-service teachers' for educational purposes(2012) Kahraman S.; Yalcin S.A.; Erkol M.; Kisoglu M.The aim of the research is to investigate why students at the Faculty of Education use the Internet. The sample of the study consisted of 348 students (178 female, 170 male) enrolled in the Faculty of Education at Bayburt University in Turkey. The data was collected using a survey which is consisted of seven questions developed by the researchers. The obtained data was statistically analyzed and responses given by students were calculated as frequency (f) and percent (%) values. The findings indicated that students frequently use the Internet for academic purposes, general subjects and communication. Additionally, it was determined that students use the Internet on average a few times per week both for academic purposes and general subjects. It was found that students mostly downloaded text material from the Internet while they were searching a subject. According to the results of the study students prefer to access Turkish web sites more than English web sites for academic purposes. It is held that students use the Internet more than library while they are searching for academic purposes. Furthermore, it is stated that nearly half of students believed that the Internet services can take the place of the libraries. At the same time, majority of the students believed that the internet improves students' achievement. © Sila Science. All rights reserved.
