Öğe An investigation into the learning of ecological concepts(Eurasian Society of Educational Research, 2018) Toman U.The aim of this research; secondary, high school and university levels of the students to understand the concepts related to ecology of Bayburt in Turkey. In this study, a progressive research method was used. In this method, conceptual understanding test was used as data collection tool. Open-ended test questions were used in this study. The test consisted of 150 students, 50 were from the secondary school, 50 were from the high school and 50 from the university in Bayburt. The data obtained from the test indic ate that the meanings of the ecological concept are in different categories and that this concept is not fully understood by the students at all three levels of learning. While students at secondary level relate the concepts related to ecology to their everyday use, high school and university students have more scientific definitions in their descriptions. In addition, misconceptions regarding these concepts have been identified at all levels of learning. © 2018 Eurasian Society of Educational Research. All rights reserved.Öğe Investigation of learning outcomes in biology course curriculum in terms of mental skills(Horizon Research Publishing, 2018) Toman U.The purpose of this study is to examine the learning outcomes in the curriculum of Biology course in terms of reflective thinking skills. It is a documentary qualitative research. The target area of the study is the curriculum of the Biology course in secondary school level. Biology course curriculum of grades 9-12 was included in the research without any sampling in the research. Data collection method of the research is document analysis, and data analysis method is content and document analysis. We find that the vast majority of the learning outcomes of the units and subject areas in the biology course curriculum are in the practical reflection level. While the learning outcomes of the biology course curriculum are determined, mental skills need to be taken into account. © 2018 by authors, all rights reserved.
