Erzurum Central Cortan Mosque and 2020-2021 Restoration
(Ataturk Univ, 2025) Celik, Bayram; Gultepe, Gulten
The city of Erzurum has always maintained its feature of being one of the most important cities of the region in terms of military, trade and culture and art throughout history. Being geographically at the junction of important civilizations and being at the transition point of these civilizations has not only preserved this feature but also caused its cultural and artistic richness to be very diverse and of high standards. The city, which was the gateway to Anatolia for the Turks, was also the city where the first Turkish architectural works were built. Structures such as the Ulu Mosque, the Twin Minarets and the Yakutiye Madrasahs not only raised the building standards of the architectural tradition in this city to a very high level, but also became a reference for later structures in terms of building standards. The high building standards that began with the Saltukids and Ilkhanids gained new momentum in the 16th century. After this transformation, very large foundations were established in the city and intensive construction activities began. Many valuable structures were added to the city in the construction activities that continued uninterruptedly until the Republic period. One of these is the & Ccedil;ortan Mosque, which is thought to have been built in the 1850s. The mosque with wooden pillars and wooden beams is a structure that greatly reflects the architectural tradition of Erzurum and the characteristics of the period in which it was built. With this study, both the cultural and artistic characteristics of the structure will be determined and brought to the literature, and the restoration conveyed in detail.

EFFECT OF SCRAP RATIO ON LIQUID METAL QUALITY OF LOW-PRESSURE DIE-CASTING (LPDC) ALLOY USING ROTARY DEGASSING
(Konya Teknik Univ, 2025) Tokatli, Mehmet; Colak, Murat; Yuksel, Caglar
Although various processes are used in aluminum liquid metal cleaning, environmentally friendly, economical and applicable methods should be preferred in industry. Among these methods, the Density Index test based on the reduced pressure test (RPT), which is widely used to measure the efficiency of the rotary degassing process, and the K-mold test method, which offers fast and practical results were carried out. The effects of rotary degassing method on the liquid metal quality of AlSi7Mg0.3 (A356) aluminum alloy charges prepared with different proportions of scrap and ingots were evaluated using a constant 5l/min gas flow rate, a constant 5 min process time and a constant 300 rpm rotor rotation speed. The results show that the Density Index values can be reduced from 1.48% to around 0.74% with increasing scrap rate, while K-mold values can be reduced from 2.8 to 0.6. It was also shown that the rotary degassing method is effective in liquid metal cleaning, and the K-mold test can be used as a very practical control tool for evaluating liquid metal quality.

(Nesibe Aydin Education Inst, 2025) Gurbuz, Fatih; Sarioglan, Ayberk Bostan
This study is aimed at developing an achievement test on quadrilaterals for seventh-grade students. The concept of the atom can be visualized in different ways in the mind due to its structure, which the naked eye cannot see. Augmented reality (AR) is one of the applications that can be used to teach such concepts. This study aimed to investigate students' views on the use of AR applications in teaching. Phenomenological design, one of the qualitative research designs, was used in the study. The study group consisted of 26 -graders in a public secondary school. AR application was organized to teach the structure of the atom. Within the scope of the study, an interview form consisting of four open-ended questions prepared by the researchers and submitted to expert opinion for content validity was used as a data collection tool. When the students' answers to the questions were examined, it was determined that they had positive opinions that AR application could be used in other courses and different subjects, that this application was more instructive because it concretized the subject, that it caused a better understanding of the subject it was used in, and that it increased participation in the lesson due to the possibilities of providing three-dimensional images. Suggestions were made based on the results.

THE ROLE OF CAPITAL FLOWS IN THE INTERNATIONAL TRANSMISSION OF US MONETARY POLICY: THE CASE OF TURKEY
(Economic And Financial Research Assoc - Efad, 2025) Akar, Nuri Cagri; Varlik, Cemil
This article aims to examine the impacts of US monetary policy (MP) changes on the Turkish economy. A Structural Vector Autoregressive (SVAR) model is estimated for the period 2002:01-2017:12, during which a flexible exchange rate regime was adopted in the Turkish economy. According to the impulse-response analysis, the Turkish interest rate responds positively and significantly to the US Effective Federal Funds Rate (EFFR). AThis result shows that the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey's (CBRT) MP follows the FED's MP, consistent with the dilemma hypothesis of Rey (2015). The analysis also demonstrates that both the EFFR and the VIX have a negative impact on net total capital inflows to the Turkish economy. The impulse-responses for the three components of net capital inflows indicate important conclusions. Firstly, neither EFFR nor VIX has a significant impact on Net Foreign Direct Investment (NFDI) inflows. Secondly, Net Portfolio Investments (NPI) respond significantly to the VIX but not to the EFFR. Thirdly, Net Other Investments (NOI) respond significantly to the EFFR but not to the VIX. These findings indicate that the NOI component plays a direct and major role in the emergence of the US MP's spillover effects on the Turkish MP.

Collective Entertainment Culture in the Context of the Shrine Phenomenon: Zêw
    (Ataturk Univ, 2024) Ozturk, Nuran K. I. Z. M. A. Z.
In this study, the role and function of z & ecirc;w, which we can title carnival, festivity, or festival in Southeastern Anatolia, in the construction of solidarity and integration in society is referred to. At the same time, the socio-cultural meaning of z & ecirc;w and what it socially produces are examined. Individuals come to their ancestral lands and organize festivities and feasts around the graves in unity and solidarity. While these events are held without conflict between different tribes and villages, they carry important functions that strengthen solidarity and integration in society. In the region, z & ecirc;ws are among the most important events for the allocation and production of solidarity, integrity, and unity by society. In our research, the events around the tombs in Turabdin, an ancient and sacred region in Southeastern Anatolia, will be handled. Around the phenomenon of visitation, which can be viewed as an extension of folk religiosity, rituals are performed that indicate both a spiritual connection with the sacred and a collective entertainment culture on the social plane. Numerous sacred rites, including ancestral recollection, spiritual fulfilment, prayer, sacrifice, and wish-making, are carried out during Z & ecirc;w festivities. Additionally, during the z & ecirc;w, potlac-style feasts are organized. The events organized during Z & ecirc;w, such forms of entertainment shaped by the local culture of the region as the javelin game, the mit & imath;rps' music, and the kilometers-long Anatolian folklore dance culture also exhibit a syncretic aspect in the same place. In this study, Seyyid Bilal and Sheikh Hasan, the most famous of z & ecirc;w festivals held on different dates and places, will be covered. Z & ecirc;ws' historical, cultural, socio-psychological, political, and economic functions in the region have been put forward. In this context, in-depth interviews were conducted with 20 participants and the results were analysed. In the conclusion, the data obtained will be discussed by dealing with ritual, symbol and belief.

The interplay between university students' needs, maturity levels (personal, familial, and social), and life satisfaction
(Izzet Kara, 2025) Akyuz, Ahmet Mutlu; Durmus, Ibrahim
It is essential for young Turkish individuals (university students) to rapidly develop their skills and abilities to take on leadership roles in society. To become well-equipped individuals who contribute to societal welfare and development, these young adults must undergo a healthy adolescent maturity process. Therefore, providing a supportive environment for Turkish adolescents during their maturation is crucial. This study investigates how fulfilling all hierarchical needs (PSN, LBN, ESAN) affects Turkish adolescents' life satisfaction (LS) and their personal (PM), familial (FM), and social (SM) maturity levels. The study sample consists of 397 Turkish university students. The proposed research model was tested using PLS-SEM analysis. The findings indicate that fulfilling all hierarchical needs positively affects life satisfaction. Additionally, life satisfaction serves as a mediator between the fulfillment of hierarchical needs and maturity levels. However, the most fundamental physical and security needs are not adequately met, hindering personal maturity. Furthermore, love and belonging needs and esteem and self-actualization needs positively impact all maturity levels.

Tradesmen Organization in the Ilkhanate State
(Selcuk Univ, Fac Letters, 2025) Dayi, Ozkan
Throughout history, one of the most critical indicators of city life has been the organization of tradesmen. We observe that the merchants' structure evolved in response to the commercial, agricultural, and economic activities of people residing in the city center and its surrounding areas. We know that merchants, especially in the Iranian geography, were significantly affected by political and military activities and were shaped in a way that was dependent on political institutions throughout the Middle Ages. Tradesmen, who held a vital place in the city's structure and life within the Turkish-Islamic civilization, were significantly impacted by the Mongol invasion. We know that the merchant organization regained its essential place in city life during the Ilkhanate period, which re-established political unity in Iran and Western Asia after the Mongol invasion. During the Ilkhanate period, officials from the tradesman organization who supervised and chaired the organization were appointed by state administrators. Moreover, this structure supported the local administrators - usually bearing the title h & amacr;kim - who were appointed by the central authority to ensure the easier governance of cities. In the Ilkhanate state, members of the market and merchants' organizations regularly expanded their areas of activity. In this context, the article will discuss the organization of merchants within the city structure of the Ilkhanate state, providing details.

The Impact of the Mongol Invasion on Religious Life and S?fism in Khurasan
    (Hale Sivgin, 2025) Durmusoglu, Kurban
This study investigates the impact of the Mongol invasion on the religious life and sufi structures in the Khurasan region. Beginning in the early 13th century, this invasion led to profound transformations in Khurasan, a key center of Islamic civilization regarding knowledge and spirituality. The study's primary aim is to analyze the consequences of this devastation not only on the material level but also on the spiritual and social dimensions, focusing specifically on sufism. The study uses a qualitative research method to evaluate historical sources from the period, sufi literature, and contemporary academic approaches. The content includes an overview of the historical development of sufi life in Khurasan and the social functions of sufis while also discussing the effects of the Mongol invasion on these structures. Additionally, the study emphasizes the intellectual migrations that occurred following the invasion and the spread of sufis to other regions, particularly Anatolia. Ultimately, the study reveals that the destructive impact of the Mongol invasion did not lead to a decline in religious structures but triggered a transformation and reconstruction process. sufi figures became spiritual sanctuaries for the people; during this period, sufism evolved into a means of resistance and social cohesion, gaining broader dissemination and institutionalization throughout the Islamic world.

Answer-based and reference-based BERT models for automatic scoring of Turkish short answers: The decisive role of task complexity
(Izzet Kara, 2025) Kara, Abdulkadir; Kara, Zeynep Avinc; Yildirim, Serkan
In measurement and evaluation processes, natural language responses are often avoided due to time, workload, and reliability concerns. However, the increasing popularity of automatic short-answer grading studies for natural language responses means such answers can now be measured more quickly and reliably. This study aims to build models for predicting automatic short answer scores using the pre-trained BERT deep learning language model and to reveal their effectiveness. For this purpose, two different score prediction models were created using an answerbased approach that aligns student answers with expert judgements and a referencebased approach that matches student answers with reference answers. The dataset includes answers from 246 Physics department students responding to 4 physicsrelated questions. The performance of these models was evaluated on four physics questions representing varying levels of cognitive complexity, using Cohen's Kappa for statistical comparison of agreement with expert scores. Our findings reveal a clear interaction between model architecture and task complexity. The answer-based model was unequivocally superior for the most complex, multi-class task, effectively capturing diverse, nuanced responses. Conversely, the reference-based model demonstrated a statistically significant advantage for a well-defined, mediumcomplexity binary task. This study concludes that the optimal model for ASAG in Turkish is contingent on the cognitive demands of the assessment task, suggesting that a onesize-fits-all solution may not be the most effective approach. This provides a critical framework for practitioners, demonstrating not only that effective models are feasible for complex languages, but that their selection must be guided by task complexity.

Assessment The Effects of Psyllium And Hydrocolloids in Gluten-Free Noodle
(Selcuk Univ Press, 2024) Aktas, Kubra; Erten, Tayyibe
This study was performed to examine the effects of individual and combined usage of psyllium husk powder (PHP) with guar gum (GG) or locust bean gum (LBG) on the production of gluten-free Turkish-type noodles. For this purpose, six different formulations were created with the total amount of variables being 3%, and samples' physical, chemical, cooking, textural and sensorial properties were performed. The results revealed no significant decrease or increase in moisture, ash, protein and fat contents. On the other hand, although individual usage of psyllium caused a slight decrease in carbohydrate content, this did not reflect energy values. The lowest L* and hue and the highest a* values were observed in the samples where only psyllium was used, and there was no significant difference in b* and saturation index values. Regarding cooking quality and textural analysis, the results from these two analyses supported each other, and there is a significant difference between the samples. An additional disliking that can be considered significant was not determined by using psyllium with or without other gums in noodle formulation. As a result, the dual combined psyllium with other gums in gluten-free noodle production could be appropriate without adversely affecting the quality of the product.

Sociology of Religion Textbooks Between Apology and Sociology
    (Sakarya Univ, 2025) Hasanov, Behram
This article analyzes three sociology of religion textbooks commonly taught in the faculties of Theology and Islamic Sciences in Turkey through content analysis to examine how the relationship between sociological analysis and theological arguments is established in these works and to what extent this relationship overlaps with the scientific framework of sociology of religion. The study finds that apologetic tendencies towards Islam are common in these textbooks and that the boundaries between sociological analysis and theological arguments are blurred. The study analyzes two prominent themes in the textbooks: (1) constructing a positive narrative of Islam and (2) advocacy based on sacred and academic authorities. The first theme emphasized that Islam is compatible with contemporary values and emphasized positive examples of Islam and avoided negative or controversial examples. At the same time, it was also found that Muslim societies advocated against the association of negative examples with Islam and emphasized the positive aspects of Islam in comparison with other religions. Within the framework of the second theme, it was determined that the defense of Islam was based on sacred texts and positive evaluations of Western social scientists. Instead of empirical data and sociological methods, direct reference was made to sacred texts, and the positive views of Western social scientists on Islam were selectively conveyed. As a result, the textbooks examined violate the methodological principles of sociology and produce a religious defense discourse. The study emphasizes that the sociology of religion literature in T & uuml;rkiye should be re-evaluated based on scientific objectivity.

Examining the Criteria Affecting Corporate Social Responsibility in Businesses from the Consumer Perspective Using the Pythagorean Fuzzy Entropy Technique
(Sosyoekonomi Soc, 2025) Keskin, Abdulkadir; Kiracli-Leblebicioglu, Nilufer; Keskin, Abdurrahman; Leblebicioglu, Burak
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) serves as a self-regulation mechanism for businesses and a framework for consumers to evaluate companies. Carroll's (1991) CSR pyramid categorises these responsibilities, which can differ depending on cultural and economic contexts. This study examines Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the context of Carroll's pyramid from the perspective of Turkish consumers, based on expert interviews analysed using the Pythagorean Fuzzy Entropy method. The results reveal that Turkish consumers prioritise businesses' economic responsibilities the most, followed by philanthropic responsibilities. Ethical responsibilities are ranked slightly lower, with legal responsibilities considered the least important in this context.
