Özet

Foreign direct investment, as an important instrument of economic development for developing countries, provides employment, technology transfer and productivity improvement by eliminating the capital deficiency in these countries. In recent years, foreign direct investments have increased considerably in developing countries. This increase makes it necessary to investigate the determinants of foreign direct investment. This paper focuses particularly on globalization and institutional quality variables that determine foreign direct investment using panel data of 48 developing countries from 1996 to 2015. The results suggest that globalization and institutional quality have a positive effect on foreign direct investment. © Peter Lang GmbH.
