Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı kamuoyu manipülasyonunda etik dışı bir yöntem olan Astroturfing kavramının incelenmesidir. Astroturfing belirli bir görüş ya da çıkar grubu için sahte bir toplumsal destek oluşturarak kamuoyunu yanıltmayı amaçlayan bir stratejidir. Çalışmada öncelikle Astroturfing kavramı, tarihsel gelişimi, benzer kavramlar ve bunlarla ilişkileri, hangi koşullarda nasıl ortaya çıktığı, Astroturfing uygulamalarının etik boyutu, kamu yönetiminde kullanımı ele alınmış daha sonra dünyanın çeşitli yerlerinde gerçekleştirilen bazı Astroturfing örnekleri incelenmiştir. Son olarak Astroturfing eylemlerinin zararları ve önlemeye yönelik çözüm önerileri sunulmuştur. Bu çalışmanın, Astroturfing faaliyetlerinin karmaşık dinamiklerini ve toplum üzerindeki yıkıcı sonuçlarını anlamak açısından literatüre katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.
The purpose of this study is to examine the concept of Astroturfing, which is an unethical method in public opinion manipulation. Astroturfing is a strategy that aims to mislead the public by creating false social support for a certain view or interest group. In the study, firstly, the concept of Astroturfing, its historical development, similar concepts and their relations, under what conditions and how it emerged, the ethical dimension of Astroturfing applications, its use in public administration are discussed, then some Astroturfing activities carried out in various parts of the world are examined. Finally, the harms of Astroturfing actions and solution suggestions for prevention are presented. It is thought that this study will contribute to the literature in terms of understanding the complex dynamics of Astroturfing activities and their destructive consequences on society.
