The aim of the study was to examine and compare the effects of training on forearm muscles and thus hand grip strength in individuals who train in different environments but use the same body part (upper extremity) while doing these trainings. 30 volunteer male students aged between 18-24 who are recreationally active and studying at Bayburt University School of Physical Education and Sports coaching education were included in the study. Participants' age (20.5 ± 1.6) and height (176.4 ± 6.3) and body weight (73.79 ± 9.05) were measured. Dominant and Nan-dominant hand grip strength measurements were made. A Take-i hand dynamometer was used for hand grip strength measurements. The obtained results were analyzed in SPSS 22 package program. As a result of the analysis, it was observed that swimming and tennis training significantly improved both the dominant and non-dominant hand grip strength of the participants. However, it was understood that while swimming training provided a similar improvement on dominant and non-dominant hand grip strength, tennis training did not provide a similar effect on the development of dominant and non-dominant hand grip strength. As a result, it is understood that while in-water exercises such as swimming consist of repetitive movements and are used actively in both limbs, they are effective on the development of grip strength of both hands, while in branches such as tennis, where only the dominant hand is actively used, only the general effect of training on the nan-dominant limb.. For this reason, in-water exercises can be used and recommended as an alternative training method in branches where both limbs are desired to be developed. © 2021, Ataturk Universitesi.
