| dc.description.abstract | This study is one of the rare studies that conceptualises social movements at structural and processual levels. By conceptualising social movements at structural and processual levels simultaneously, the study makes an important contribution to the limited number of approaches in the literature. While most of the existing studies focus on either structural or processual dimensions, this study uniquely explains the dynamics of social movements more comprehensively by addressing both levels in a holistic manner. The study aims to address social movements not only as a form of political demands or collective action, but also as an expression of alternative ways of being. To this end, three main conceptual foci are developed: Collective action, temporal process, ideological and practical tension. Collective action demonstrates that social movements are not only centred around a singular identity or purpose, but also emerge with multi-layered and sometimes contradictory forms of being. Temporal process reveals that movements are based not only on the present, but also on the memory of the past, the imagination of the future and cyclical constructions of time. Ideological and practical tension, on the other hand, emphasises that social movements are constituted not only by the might of resistance but also by existential conflicts such as dispersal, silence and fragility. The study was conducted using qualitative research method. The content analysis of the data aims to reveal the collective assumptions underlying social movement discourses and practices. In this context, the analysis was structured through open coding and conceptual thematisation. The study also questions not only 'what movements do' but also 'how they exist' by centring on the question of 'existential structure', which is often ignored in the literature. As a limitation, the study is not based on specific case analyses, but rather on structural and processual dynamics at the conceptual level. Although this provides theoretical depth, it limits empirical generalisation. The research argues that social movements are shaped by plural, dynamic and fragile modes of being rather than fixed, monolithic and linear structures. The findings of the research reveal that social movements are not only the expression of political demands, but also a process of existence and identity construction. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Bu çalışma sosyal hareketleri yapısal ve süreçsel düzeyde kavramsallaştıran nadir araştırmalardan biridir. Çalışma, sosyal hareketleri yapısal ve süreçsel düzeyde eş zamanlı olarak kavramsallaştırarak, literatürde sınırlı sayıda bulunan yaklaşımlara önemli bir katkı sağlamaktadır. Mevcut çalışmaların çoğu yapısal ya da süreçsel boyutlara odaklanırken, bu çalışma özgünlük olarak her iki düzeyi bütüncül bir şekilde ele alarak sosyal hareketlerin dinamiklerini daha kapsamlı biçimde açıklamaktadır. Çalışma, sosyal hareketleri yalnızca politik taleplerin veya kolektif eylemin bir formu olarak değil, aynı zamanda alternatif varlık biçimlerinin ifadesi olarak ele almayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda üç temel kavramsal odak geliştirilmiştir: Kolektif eylem, zamansal süreç, ideolojik ve pratik gerilim. Kolektif eylem, sosyal hareketlerin yalnızca tekil bir kimlik ya da amaç etrafında değil, çok katmanlı ve zaman zaman çelişkili varlık biçimleri ile ortaya çıktığını göstermektedir. Zamansal süreç, hareketlerin yalnızca şimdiye değil; geçmişin hafızasına, geleceğin tahayyülüne ve döngüsel zaman kurgularına dayandığını ortaya koymaktadır. İdeolojik ve pratik gerilim ise sosyal hareketlerin sadece direnişin kudretiyle değil, aynı zamanda dağılma, sessizlik ve kırılganlık gibi varoluşsal çatışmalarla kurulduğunu vurgulamaktadır. Çalışma, nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler üzerinden yapılan içerik analizi, sosyal hareket söylemleri ve pratiklerinin altında yatan kolektif varsayımları ortaya çıkarmayı hedeflemektedir. Bu bağlamda analiz, açık kodlama ve kavramsal temalandırma yoluyla yapılandırılmıştır. Çalışma ayrıca literatürde sıklıkla göz ardı edilen "varoluşsal yapı" sorusunu merkeze alarak, hareketlerin yalnızca "ne yaptıklarını" değil, "nasıl var olduklarını" da sorgulamaktadır. Sınırlılık olarak, çalışma belirli vaka analizlerine dayanmamakta, daha çok kavramsal düzeyde yapısal ve süreçsel dinamiklerden hareket etmektedir. Bu durum, kuramsal derinlik sağlasa da ampirik genelleme yapılmasını sınırlamaktadır. Araştırma, sosyal hareketlerin sabit, yekpare ve doğrusal yapılar yerine çoğul, dinamik ve kırılgan varoluş kipleriyle şekillendiğini savunmaktadır. Araştırmanın bulguları, sosyal hareketlerin sadece siyasi taleplerin ifadesi değil, aynı zamanda bir varoluş ve kimlik inşası süreci olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. | |
