dc.description.abstractBu tezde, Borsa İstanbul'da işlem gören ana metal sanayi firmalarının finansal performansları Veri Zarflama Analizi (VZA) yöntemi kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Tezin amacı, bu sektördeki firmaların etkinlik düzeylerini belirlemek, sektördeki genel finansal durumu analiz etmek ve performans iyileştirmeleri için öneriler sunmaktır. Çalışma kapsamında, Borsa İstanbul'da işlem gören ana metal sanayi firmalarının 2019-2022 yılları arasındaki finansal verileri kullanılmıştır. Bu veriler, firmaların bilanço, gelir tablosu ve diğer mali raporlarından elde edilmiştir. Veri Zarflama Analizi, firmaların göreli etkinliklerini ölçmek için kullanılan doğrusal programlama tabanlı bir yöntemdir ve bu çalışmada da bu yöntemin sektörel analizlerdeki uygulanabilirliği incelenmiştir. Analiz sonucunda, sektördeki firmaların etkinlik düzeyleri tespit edilmiş ve etkin olmayan firmaların hangi alanlarda iyileştirmeler yapması gerektiği belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, etkin firmaların başarılarının arkasında yatan temel faktörler de detaylı bir şekilde incelenmiştir. Etkin olmayan firmaların iyileştirme potansiyelleri ve kaynak kullanımındaki verimlilik sorunları da ortaya konmuştur. Çalışmanın bulguları, sektördeki genel finansal durumu ve firmaların performanslarını iyileştirmek için yapılması gerekenleri açıkça göstermektedir. Öneriler kısmında, etkin olmayan firmaların performanslarını artırmak için stratejik planlama ve yönetim uygulamaları önerilmiştir. Ayrıca, sektör genelinde rekabet gücünü artırmak için inovasyon ve teknoloji yatırımlarının önemi vurgulanmıştır. Sonuç olarak, bu tez, Borsa İstanbul'da işlem gören ana metal sanayi firmalarının finansal etkinliklerini kapsamlı bir şekilde analiz ederek, sektördeki firmaların performanslarını iyileştirmek için elde edilen bulgular çerçevesinde önemli öneriler sunmaktadır. Bu çalışma hem akademik literatüre katkı sağlamakta hem de sektör paydaşları için değerli bilgiler sunmaktadır. Anahtar Kelimeler: Etkinlik performansı, ana metal sanayi, veri zarflama analizi.
dc.description.abstractIn this thesis, the financial performance of companies listed on Borsa Istanbul in the primary metal industry is evaluated using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The aim of the thesis is to determine the efficiency levels of these companies, analyze the overall financial situation in the sector, and provide recommendations for performance improvements. The study uses financial data from primary metal industry companies listed on Borsa Istanbul between 2019 and 2022. This data is obtained from the companies' balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports. Data Envelopment Analysis is a linear programming-based method used to measure the relative efficiency of firms, and this study examines the applicability of this method in sectoral analyses. As a result of the analysis, the efficiency levels of the companies in the sector were identified, and the areas where inefficient companies need to make improvements were determined. Furthermore, the key factors underlying the success of efficient companies were examined in detail. The improvement potentials of inefficient companies and their problems with resource utilization efficiency were also revealed. The findings of the study clearly demonstrate the general financial situation in the sector and what needs to be done to improve the performance of the companies. In the recommendations section, strategic planning and management practices are suggested to enhance the performance of inefficient companies. Additionally, the importance of innovation and technology investments to increase the competitiveness of the sector as a whole is emphasized. In conclusion, this thesis comprehensively analyzes the financial activities of the main metal industry companies traded on Borsa Istanbul and offers important suggestions within the framework of the findings to improve the performance of the companies in the sector. This study contributes to the academic literature and provides valuable insights for sector stakeholders. Keywords: Efficiency performance, basic metal ındustry, data envelopment analysis.
