The effects of exercise at the anaerobic threshold on nesfatin-1 levels have been investigated in trained male subjects. A total of 30 males performed an aerobic running exercise for 30 min in mornings. Venous blood samples were taken at rest and at the end of the test. ELISA method was used to analyse nesfatin-1 levels. Nesfatin-1 levels were found to be 102.8±5.1 ng/ml at rest and it increased to 109.6±6.2 ng/ml at the end of the test. However, this increase was not statistically significant (P=0.3). The nesfatin-1 level was found to be 1.695±0.09 ng/ml/kg when standardised to body weight. There was a correlation between body weight to nesfatin-1 levels and change of nesfatin-1 levels during exercise: R=0.50858 (p=0.004). We showed that nesfatin-1 is not exercise induced hormone but it may vary among the subjects either increasing or decreasing. Thus further studies should be performed in subjects with carying fitness status.
