    A Logistics Support Center At The Fourth Murat's Revan Expedition: Bayburt

    Bayburt was one of the biggest logistic support centers of the Ottomans during the Revan Expedition. When the Ottoman army set out to make a campaign to Revan, he stayed in the Sadak, Yolveren, Sinür and Hayık ranges of Bayburt. The Ottoman army stayed in the Sinur range for five days, where various supplies of barley, flour, sheep, oil, honey and wood were supplied, came from some of Kastomonu's towns. After Sinur, the army which was in the Hayik range, supplied various quantities of barley, flour, sheep, oil, honey and wood from Bayburt, Rize, Trabzon, Giresun and some of the places connected to them. On the other hand, products such as wheat, barley and flour stored in the food warehouses at Bayburt Castle were transported to Kars via Erzurum for use in the Revan Expedition. This food and grain shipment was made several times on various dates. The Ottomans made this shipment with the animals they rented from Bayburt people due to the insufficiency of the state animals and geographical conditions. Bayburt, Revan Expedition during the campaign is one of most intense. In this study; It ıs aimed to clarify the expedition range of the Ottoman army in Bayburt and the logistical support activities of Bayburt to the Ottoman army in the Revan Expedition. During this study, especially the müdevver register in the Ottoman Archives, Ottoman chronicles and research-examination works were used.

    İbrahim Paşa'nın Muhallefatında Giyim-Kuşam Kültürü: Erken 16. Yüzyıl Osmanlı Seçkin Tüketimine Dair Bir İnceleme

    İbrahim Paşa, vefat ettiğinde muhallefatındaki giyim-kuşam eşyaları kadife, çatma, seraser, kutni, ipek, kirpas, çuka, atlas, kemha, tafta ve boğasi gibi dokuma türlerinden oluşmaktaydı. Börk, kaftan, kürk, sarık, hil'at, mendil, ferace ve dolama gibi eşyaları da bu dokuma türlerinin ürünleriydi. Dokuma ürünlerinin yanı sıra gösteriş unsuru olan hançer, yatağan, bozdoğan gibi silahlar da kayıtlar arasındadır. Paşa'nın giyim-kuşam unsurları, albenisi yüksek olan değerli mallar olup Hindistan, İran ve Avrupa dokumalarının Osmanlı seçkinleri nezdindeki cazibesi ile dönemin lüks ve popüler giyim trendini yansıtmaktadır. Aynı dönemde Osmanlı ürünlerinin bazılarının yurtdışında alıcı bulduğu da nazara alınırsa yerel malların da küresel ilgiye mazhar olduğu söylenebilir. Bununla birlikte Paşa'nın terekesinde bir kent fuarında bulunabilecek giyim-kuşam eşyalarının ve kumaş türlerinin çoğunu görebilmek mümkündür. Avrupa tekstil ürünleri Osmanlı bürokrasinin en değerli diplomatik hediyelerdendi. Ayrıca önemli merasimlerde yerlere döşenen değerli kumaşların başında da Milano'da üretilen altın yaldızlı kumaşlar gelmekteydi. İbrahim Paşa'nın lüks eşyaları, Avrupa dokuma ürünlerinin yanı sıra Asya kumaşlarının da Osmanlı seçkinleri nezdinde cazip lüks ürünler olduğunu teyit etmektedir. Küresel kent fuarlarını aratmayacak bu ürünler küresel giyim-kuşam kültürü olduğunu da göstermektedir. Ticarete konu olan ürünler vesilesiyle taraflar arasında kültürler de transfer edilmekteydi. Yani dokuma ürünleri pazar ve fuar gibi yerler vesilesiyle yerel ve küresel kültür taşıyıcısı mahiyetindeydi. Bu çalışmada bir Osmanlı seçkininin terekesini içeren Başbakanlık Osmanlı Arşivi Muhallefat Halifeliği (BOA. D.BŞM.MHF.d) tasnifindeki "12349-K." numaralı defter ışığında yerel ve küresel mahiyetteki giyim-kuşam unsurlarını, devrin revaçtaki lüks dokumalarını, bu tür ürünlerin fiyatlarını ve küresel tekstil ticaretinin yönünü aydınlatıcı verilerin ele alınması amaçlanmıştır.

    Nova Berde Silver Mines (1453-1600)

    The Nova Berde is one of the most important silver mines of the Ottoman Empire. Here, during the reign of Murat II a mint was established and silver coins were printed. People working in mines are exempt from tax and people who are exposed to attacks by bandits and enemy elements are temporarily exempt from tax. Nova Berde silver played a major role in the Ottoman economy together with Gümüşhane and Sidrakapısı silver mines. The Ottoman sultans both supplied bullets from the silver mines during the wars and in ordinary times and also cut silver coins which were the salary of the soldiers. Nova Berde's rich silver mines have made it a center of employment and prosperity. The Nova Berde silver mines appear to be a complex facility with mining institutions such as mint and armoury. The Ottomans, who captured Nova Berde, inherited Saxon mining law, technical and legal terminology that existed before them. Thus, the mining activities here had a historical continuity. In this study; we examined the role of the Nova Berde, mines Ottoman social and economic life by utilizing the mühimme register, choronicles, archival document and research-investigation works. We also examined the production activities of mining-related mint and armory in Nova Berde.
