Although a uniform society is thought of when it comes to Alevism, it is revealed through research that Alevism, which has spread to many cities and regions, has different ideas from each other. Studies on the segments that live and perpetuate the culture and faith are critical regarding authenticity and seeing the reflections in practice. Most of the population of Bayburt is Sunni-Hanafi, and a small part of it is Alevis. Alevis living in Bayburt has not been the subject of scientific studies. This study sought answers to many questions, such as revealing the cultural and social ties of the people living in 8 Alevi villages in Bayburt province with the Alevi faith, evaluating the communication style with Sunni people, and transferring the trust to future generations. The qualitative research method, the interview technique, was used. In this context, Alevi villages in Bayburt were visited, and information about religious life, faiths, and culture was obtained from the participants through interviews with the people in these villages. In our study, by the interview technique, we tried to make sense of the experiences of Alevis, how they interpret themselves, how they construct their world, and how they attribute meaning to their experiences. As a result of the study, it has been determined that Alevism in Bayburt is in a situation where Alevism is prayed only in places such as visitation centers, where it is detached from worship and manners, where there are many problems in its transmission to new generations, and that the culture and belief face the risk of extinction. © 2024 Ankara Haci Bayram Veli University.
